Textile art hand painted silk square on deep canvas.

I have developed and worked the bird image from my own photographs of birds taken across Norfolk combining them with several foliage motifs which are taken from 15th century painted panels found in the medieval churches of East Anglia.

I have mounted and wrapped the silk onto a 50 x 50 cm deep canvas. The silk has been painted with dyes and then steamed for two hours to fix colours before mounting. Using dye on silk gives a very flat, even yet vibrant finish.
